In a notice sent out to stakeholders on March 15, 2021, the federal regulator informed all cannabis license holders of the annual fee changes as well as upcoming due dates for the fiscal year 2020-2021 annual regulatory payments, the annual Statement of Cannabis Revenue and the Cannabis for medical purposes annual regulatory fee exemption.
On April 1, 2021, the department application screening fee, security clearance fee, and import or export permit application fee shall be adjusted. This is based on the 2020 Index of -.02% as established by Statistics Canada.
Health Canada deferred 2020-2021 annual regulatory fee payment due from September 30 to March 31, 2021, due to the economic impact of the pandemic. Meanwhile, cannabis license holders with invoice deferred must pay it no later than March 31, 2021, to avoid interest penalties.
License holders are required to submit a statement of revenue for each licensed site. If they declare that their only goal is to sell medical cannabis, they need to submit a completed statement of their revenue for the 2020-2021 fiscal year and a written document that confirms sales by April 30, 2021.
Federal cannabis license holders that aim to sell exclusively for medical purposes for the years 2021-2022 should submit written documents on or before April 30, 2021.
